Karen Selick used undue influenced to coerce a nursing home elder to change estate for her financial gain

An unscrupulous couple swooped in on our Mother after she was admitted into a nursing home with Alzheimers and a 10cm aeorta anyerism running from Mother's heart to her abdomen. This couple then colluded with Karen Selick, a Belleville lawyer, who then proceeded to alienate Mothers family, systematically behind their backs in secret. Over a period of four months, the lawyer revocated a family members PA (30 years as a PA) changed it to the couple; changed Mother's will, leaving the couple executors; and although Mother had disbursed and gifted out her entire estate when she went into the nursing home in 2003, the lawyer created a new estate ignoring what had been legally done in the past.

The lawyer did not bill Mother during the four months, but waited until her death, then billed her estate for $7, 000.00, claiming Mother was "High maintenance". After the lawyer created the PA documents, she and the couple she named PA had full access to Mother's accounts, where it was later discovered, money was missing. This lawyer's abuse of power, with the help of a nurse and a doctor's son, influenced our dying Mother to create an estate for their personal financial gain.

The day after Mother's death they tried to change the benefactor on her life insurance, to the estate, so there would be immediate cash. Selick's activity was reported to the Upper Canada Law Society where an investigation was launched. However, when Selick was notified of the investigation, she immediately filed a lawsuit against the family, therefore halting all further investigation of her activities. There was no money left in the estate to pay the lawyer so she took the family to Small Claims Court and the judge ruled to settle because a trial could "go" either way. Selick could win or she could lose. If she won, she could go after the benefactors for $10, 000 . That was motivation to settle, which the family did. Selick accepted $3, 000 settlement on her $7, 000 invoice. For pensioners, $3, 000 is a lot of money.

Legal robbery&and a total rip-off.
