Coupons

I think it is absolutely wrong the way Michael's distributes its sales coupons. You either receive the flyer in the blue bags if you're lucky (which they don't get delivered where I live just outside Moncton), or you have to print one out. If you don't have a printer, and you don't live on the 'path' of the flyer bag, you're screwed.

Yesterday I wanted to go and purchase a Wedding Scrapbook kit for a bridal shower coming up in 2 days. Drove all the way to Moncton (about 45 minutes drive), only to be told that I either bring a coupon from the flyer, or print one out. When I asked what happens to people who don't have a computer or a printer, the answer was 'Sorry, you have to have a printed coupon'.

Needless to say I turned right back around and told my husband that I simply refused to purchase the item I wanted because of this stupid policy. What's it to them whether you have the precious printed coupon or not? What other store does that? Most offer their flyers right at the door. Why are they making it so difficult to have access to a coupon? I thought the whole idea of offering coupons was to bring people in, well all they are doing with this silly system is driving people out, and some of them will never be back. I have bought a lot of items at Michael's for my wedding, for scrapbooking, etc. Now my printer is packed away as we are in a move transition, therefore cannot print the damn coupons, and am not able to get the deal. I'm really curious as to what is the thought process here. Why are they doing this.
