This letter is regarding Westwood Square Mall and the owners of the mall.

The mall has been around since 1968 and has been very important to Malton since then. People have shopped, eaten, walked, have fun their & that has never changed. The community cares about the mall and we still want what's best for the mall.

When (Fieldgate Commerical) took over the mall in 2012 we were excited about what was to come, even a brand new Walmart something that Malton never heard before. Walmart was really good for the community from [2013 - 2021]. Covid-19 came in and affected the business… lot and some businesses left Westwood square mall.

I think that Westwood has some dire & glaring problems that need to be looked into ASAP. While discussing, the mall the one major thing is about “The lack of brand name stores” inside the mall. The location of the mall could be a problem as well as including the “vacant spaces” in the mall. Most of the brand name stores are on the outside parts of the mall, which makes the mall lack those stores on the inside. There is a (Real Estate) company that works with Fieldgate called (Citi Brokers), they have a hard time finding tenants for the vacant spaces that are left in the mall. Furthermore, Fieldgate is not helping them to promote it, which makes possible interested tenants hard to find out if it's available or not. Is the rent too high (Tmi, Net, Rent per month, lack of promotion, etc) all Including problems, could make people think that it's a dead mall. And Walmart Space needs a tenant ASAP as well.

Another thing is the lack of (Contact Info) for Westwood Square. When people try to reach out whenever it is an issue, or a suggestion to help improve the mall or inquire about a lease for the vacant space, it's very impossible to contact/reach out. Westwood Square Mall should have (Emails that work, live chat, and phone numbers) the community of Malton can reach out to. That way the mall can become a better place to shop & be around in.

The last thing, the mall/stores need renovations: The mall has been renovated but it hasn’t been maintained well. Marks on the drywalls, elevators need to be maintained/replaced, some ceiling tiles have marks, there is a bad pee smell in the mall entrance facing (AGS Wholesale), the parking lot needs fixing and etc.

There are a couple of stores inside the mall that need updating: Beauty Supplies, XTC clothing store, Jackson Heights, Ducati Shoes & AGS Wholesale. (AGS Wholesale) is the main one that needs renovations, its lacking ceiling tiles and floor tiles. Westwood Square Mall has the money that they earn from other tenants, so why not invest some of it back into the mall to improve some of the stores to make them modern & new. Looks sell, if you want more customers to come inside the mall, that is what should be done.
