A York Regional police officer has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.

Toronto police arrested the off-duty officer last night after an accusation was made against him.

38 year old Brent Rouillard has been charged with sexual assault as well as careless storage of a restricted weapon, and careless storage of ammunition.

Rouillard has been with the force since December of 2006 and is currently a member of the Special Services Unit.

“It is extremely disappointing, both for the command staff and the dedicated frontline officers and staff working diligently every day, that an officer within our organization has been charged, ” said York Regional Police Chief Eric Jolliffe. “We must now allow the case to make its way through the justice system.”
