FALSE LOTTERY WINNING LETTER WITH A FRAUDULANT CHECK INSIDE

I recieved a letter in the mail with a check for $4875.00 supposly from a lottery winnings. i called the number and spoke with a gentleman who confirmed it was not a fake. to follow the directions, deposit it my back account and pay the taxes of $ 2875.00 thru western union or moneygram. then the rest of my $ 125, 00.00 would be sent to me! something just did not feel right, so i took it to u.s.bank (bank check drawed on) and they told me it was a scam!!! some people may not think of it as a scam, they might follow thru and get scamed for a lot of money!!! please look into this.
