I received a letter in the mail today informing me that I was a "lucky" winner of a sweepstake sponsored by a group of multi-national companies in North America.

It went on to state I was entitled to the sum of $180, 000 US Dollars and included a check for $4, 293.78 US Dollars which was "supposedly" deducted from my winnings of which $2, 800.00 will be used for applicable SURCHARGES/GOVT. TAX DUE ON MY WINNINGS.

Of course, it also indicated not to use this check until I call and speak with Jeny Hung @1-416-825-4758 for activation and further clarifications.

After the initial excitement due to the realistic look of the check and the seemingly flawless letter giving instructions on how to collect my winnings and even the clever disclaimers that unclaimed prizes will be donated to charity and that First Capital Solutions, inc. is merely the payment disbursement company, etc., I decided to calm my wife down who was already planning on how to spend the money and check things out online.

Low and behold, I found to my dismay it was a scam. It figures! These guys need to have their jugglies yanked off by a pair of vice grips. What a cruel attempt to have someone be the sucker at the bank cashing a fraudelent check. I'm sure they must be hoping that every once in awhile, one gets past the bank and they are able to collect that $2800 surcharge.
