Consolidated Sweepstakes Lottery
They sent me a check for $ 4500 and told me to put it in my bank account so they could take $ 3000 tax from it and then I could get the remaining $ 45000 by a fedex agent Ripoff

Miscellaneous

One day (05/19/07), out of the blue, I received a letter from Canada with a check of $ 4 500 announcing that I was one of 5 winners for a total amount of $ 250 000 to be shared. It was supposed to be the result of a computer generated ballot system drawn from over 50 000 participants from Canada and the US.

On the letter was a phone number, my claim number as well as a password that I was supposed to reveal to my claim agent "called Larry Edward".

I was supposed to keep everything private and not reveal anything about my prize until I would receive the remaining $ 45 000 as a part of their security checks to avoid multiple claims and FRAUD.

I was also required to pay a tax for the amount of $ 3 000 and had only 5 business days to claim the prize.

When I called their phone number to find out more about the prize, after a man verified my name, I was asked to put the check into my bank account and to call him back as soon as it was done so he could get my bank details to withdraw the tax amount of $ 3 000. I was then told that a check for $ 45 000 would come to me by Fedex and that I would have to make sure that I give them my claim number as well as my password.

The man on the phone also insisted that I should not reveal anything about this prize yet and congratulated me for my prize!

I am glad that I have checked this fake prize on the internet. That is avoiding me the embarassement and the trouble coming out of scams like that.
