Mail Scam Ripoff

Beware this scam. North American Sweepstakes is mailing out Award Notifications by snail mail. They are including bank checks fraudulently prepared in the name of an unrelated company in Bangor, Maine. I'm sure the company will change with time though.

This scam is very similar to the ones frequently received in e-mails.

First, do not cash the check. It is forged and the account name is victim of fraud. The Bangor, Maine company is actually a mental health facility.

Second, they request you call their phone number followed by sending cash by Western Union. Do this, and you will never see that cash again.

In case some people still haven't caught on, NEVER Western Union cash to anyone under these pretenses. It is always a scam.

I did not fall for this because it is so obvious. Hopefully this report will prevent others from falling for it.
