I recieved a letter in the mail regarding monies won for an internet lottery

I recieved a letter in the mail regarding monies that I had won through an internet lottery, boxlotto. They sent me a check to cash that would cover the taxes on the winnings. I was to send them the money and then my winnings would be distributed. I attempted to verify the companies online, but found reports of previous scams only. I did not fall for the scam, just writting in to let others know about it.
