DCS Protect, Central Direct Services stole $229 dollars from bank account, says was accident, ripoff thieves

Miscellaneous

It was towards the end of the month, and we had sent out various checks to pay bills. Checked the bank account online to see if anything cleared, and there's a mysterious $229 dollar charge. No one has any clue as to what it could be.

10/31/2002 DCS PROTECT 8004764828 TR00003H2D Debit $229.00
The above is what showed up. After calling the 800 number listed, it turns out they are just the company that processes the ACH debits for them. They give us the number to call the DCS protect, which is 866 809 1818.

After calling that number what seemed like hundreds of times and only getting a machine, finally a human answers, named Tom Fischer. I was only given vague information when I asked what they do. From what I did gather, there's only 2 people that handle the phones.

After explaining the situation to him, he says he'll look into it, and listen to the recording, because, as he put it, "Errors like that just do not happen."

Tom Fischer calls back. He explained it as a typo, as it was a completely diffrent person and a completely diffrent account, and somehow it was taken from mine instead of the person who it should have been taken out of. He seemed very apologetic, and said that he would refund the money, and would also add to it to replace any NSF fees from the bank.

Not satisfied with this, National City Bank was called. The bank account was closed beforehand, because the $229 was taken out from nowhere and we filed everything with the bank disputing this. This was before we spoke to the Tom Fischer. Anyways, National City basicly said it wasn't there problem, until finally we got someone who said they would refund the $229 and NSF fees while they investigated it.

Tom Fischer and the guy at the bank spoke, and then then he faxed over a statement to the bank saying it was a mistake and everything would be reimbursed by them. Since the bank had that, they only reimbursed the $229 into the bank, and the $60 for the 2 NSF fees would be placed into the new account when the DCS protect refunded the $289 (229 60) to the bank.

It has been over 2 months now, and have not heard anything, and could not reach this Tom Fischer back at the 866 809 1818 number, as a machine picked up every time. Well, today the machine said the mailbox was full.

After calling the company who processed the debits for the DCS protect, they said they no longer service them. They did however give the corperate phone number for the DCS Protect, 514 734 0108 and the name Jim Israel (not sure on last name spelling). Turns out this number is in Montreal, CA.

When called, we got the same mailbox is full message. After searching a fair bit, the only thing I could find was from whitepages.com, and they came up with;

9101-9737 Quebec Inc
5250 Rue Ferrier
Montreal, QC H4P 1L4
514-734-0108

That is all I could find, so I've come to a roadblock. Now I don't know what to do.
