Ruined my credit rating and got me fined

I have been paying Cambridge Life Solutions (CLS) for 7 months to help negotiate with the credit companies I owe money to. They told me not to pay on my debts, not to answer phone calls from the companies after I once told them that CLS would be handling my negotiaions and I was to give them the number to contact CLS. CLS have been telling me that they have informed the 4 companies that I had debts with, but apparently they forgot to inform TD Canada Trust re: my Line of Credit debt and my Visa credit card and now I have received a summons to appear in court and need to hire a lawyer to defend me because of CLS neglect. CLS admitted to me they had not called TD as it was my two biggest debts and it would take a while to collect money to offer a settlement. But I was told by the lawyer who sent the summons that if CLS had called TD say they would be negotiating for me I would not have this summons to appear in court. I was in debt to start and now I'm expected to hire lawyer at $250.00 plus an hour plus to defend my case. Also I will have court costs to pay. CLS has collected almost $3000.00 from me to negotiate my 4 debts but have done nothing for me so far except to ruin my credit rating and get me a summons to court. I have also been told I may have difficulty negotiating a new mortgage renewal because of this. I feel CLS should be held recountable for this as it was their neglect in calling TD Canada Trust in the first place.
