North York ripoff dishonest uncaring and arrogant staff

I am writing to describe the horrible experience that I am having with this sorry excuse of a gym. I just came back from speaking with one of their incompetent and cocky sales staff, I am fuming. They make you feel like you are less than human and basically don't care about you as long as you pay them.

The reason I wanted to cancel was because the service is pretty awful - the people at the front desk are rude, and the sales staff fit their titles perfectly. In addition, the gym is packed a lot of the time and they're still having a promotion every month to jam more people in! (Perhaps they need to do this because unsatisfied customers keep cancelling?) I had actually already cancelled a while ago, but decided to re-register simply because they were right across the road from me and I thought I could put up with it. At the time they had made it seem like they were going to make improvements.

The first guy I met with actually agreed with my complaints and said that he personally wants to change that. Then he makes me go into a private room with 2 other sales staff. I felt like I was being ganged up on. He rudely asked me what the problem was. I told him how I felt and I wanted to cancel my contract despite the year long commitment.

When I first became a member he assured me that all I would need to do to cancel the agreement, is to warn them 31 days in advance, and that would be it. After explaining all this to him, he just brushed me off by simply saying that I need to make 4 more monthly payments.

I was incensed and asked him (Adam-something. medium built, not athletic, coloured dark brown over-sculpted hair) what kind of customer service this was and that he should be looking after my satisfaction. I told him that his salary is being paid by me and other customers and that he should be working for my interest.

He actually replied by saying that he does not in fact work for me and that I am only paying a small membership fee of $49 so it doesn't seem that it's that big of a deal. His partner was witnessing this and actually "oohed" as if this was a funny thing.

I am very upset and disgusted. I feel very uncomfortable having to go back to that gym. I am moving far from the area in November and they still want me to continue paying the 2 months I won't be able to be there after November.

I noticed how many complaints there are online about this gym. It would be a shame that they get away with this conduct. I am willing and ready to expose them and the company publicly if need be. It is sad and awful that people are still being drawn to this gym without knowing the ugly side of it.
