Samsung
Sells defective product and refuses to repair it

Construction & Repair

We purchased a Samsung microwave model SMH8187STG in August 2008. Less than 1 year later the handle broke off. As it was under warranty, Samsung repaired it. Then again less than 1 year after that the handle broke again. I contacted Samsung and was told basically in other words "too bad, not our problem" as the appliance was no longer under warranty. I responded that it had to be defective for it to break in the same manner in such a short time span. I then did an internet search and found out that it is a common complaint for their microwaves and generally Samsung charges $50 to send somebody to repair it. That is a lot of money that Samsung is making from an inferior, substandard piece, in my opinion. There were also complaints about it on the Samsung website, so it is common knowledge that there is an issue with the handles. Samsung has refused to do anything about it. I suggested that they recall the item which would make sense given how many people have issues with it.
Mr. Ahmed Yahiouche, Office of the President, replied in the email I sent to him that "our decision stands".
If there are other people that have had this issue, please make your complaint known to Samsung.
