Faulty Transmission ripoff Winnipeg

Cars & Transport

This is dated but still relevant.
I owned a 1991 Taurus - the Transmission went.
I took the car to a national transmission repair shop.
I told them to install a new one. The mechanic advised me that it would be better if I had the old one rebuilt rather than one off the shelf from Ford. Same price. I asked him why? He proceeded to tell me that the transmissions in these cars were faulty do to a bad angle in the cooling lines that Ford knew about. He explained that when he rebuilt my transmission he would install proper cooling lines so the transmission would not overheat like the old one. The story goes that Ford knew about this problem & chose to ignore it & they were installing these transmissions in Taurus & Sable cars from 1987 to 1991.

They they corrected the problem in 1992 after all the inventory of the faulty transmissions was used up. There is nothing that can be done about it now, but I can assure you that after my experience & some of the things I have heard in the media about this car maker, like the faulty ball joints on the F150 trucks that Ford refused to do a recall on & I will never buy a Ford product again & I encourage all my friends and family to boycot Ford as well!!! By reading some of the other reports it appears that nothing has changed with this car maker. I am sure that this lack of concern over the years for their customers has had something to do with the downsizing that Ford has just recently announced. I feel sorry for the workers that will loose their jobs due to the incompetence of their employer.
