Johnson Auto Insurance
Retroactive rate increased without a proper warning from the sales person

Cars & Transport

Beware if you think that your Autoshare experience will count when buying an insurance policy because the Johnson insurance sales will do anything to get your money regardless this is of your best interest.

I bought auto insurance from Johnson and the sales agent just said that they need to verify whether your Autoshare policy would work for my new policy. I said OK, Just that, no warnings or numbers. At that time I didn't read the read flag. "They will check something which means they are not sure. So this might end up badly."

After awhile she came back to me and says that they have to increase the rate of the policy to the ridiculous amount of $5800 (almost 3 times more). She offered to cancel the policy which I was all for, so we did it.

She also assured me that I will have to pay the new premium only for the days they reconsidered my premium, and not the entire period the policy was in effect for. Also OK, because I can do the math and this increase should be insignificant for 4-5 days.

But what I didn't know and no one told me before was that when the actual letter arrived showing the numbers, Johnson calculated the retroactive premium increase which meant for the how period.

So in my case for 2 months (roughly the time they verify your old policy) I had to pay almost $1000.

I called and another agent which explained to me that it is all written in the policy. Uau! This is all good but you never get to read the fine printings until you actually have signed the deal with Johson. Also when you buy a policy over the phone the sales can hide those fined details from you so you don't get scared and drop the deal.

This is what happened to me, I never heard from the sales agent that my policy will almost triple if I get degraded from 6* to 1*. She never speak to me for the real risk and the actual amount.

Also Autoshare is around for quite sometime and games like "we are no sure but we will check whether your old policy will work for us" is ridiculous. Instead of waiting for 2 months the agent should have verified that immediately.

I don't know if I was the only dummy that got caught in this trap but my advice, since Johnson can play from the first day you sign the policy, they will play you all the time. The sales are very unexperienced and you may end up paying more.

Stay away.
