Hello all,

I just wanted to let you know that a well-known scam company has just changed its name (again). They used to be called Job Success, William Baxter, Robertson, RDG Careers, etc. Now, they are called Toronto Pathways. The scam, of course, remains the same: they basically ask you to pay them in order to find a job.

I met them at a Job Fair last week in North York (Toronto) and then went to their office downtown for the first "interview". Given that I am new to Canada and still a little bit candid about my new country, I wasn't suspicious at the beginning. But then I googled them before the second "interview" and found plenty of scam reports here and on other forums. Of course, I didn't show up at the second interview.

Apparently, their technique is always the same: they tell you that you have been selected among hundreds of candidates because you resume is just impressive and that it's just a shame that you're not working yet (how can you disagree with that?!) Then they tell you to come back with you spouse/partner and this is when it started to sound very odd to me. But I got definitely suspicious when I asked "how exactly do you make your living? " and he told me I would have to pay them some fees for their services (without letting me know how much I would have to pay of course). I know from my experience abroad and in Canada that you should NEVER pay to find a job, whatever services are provided to you by the agency so I googled them and found out about their scam. Funny story: one of the guys whom I met at the job fair was supposedly called Stephen MacDonald but on a video they posted on rdgcareers.com, he was being interviewed at a previous job fair under the name "Dale Smith". I'm still not very familiar with the Canadian law system but isn't it illegal to hide your real identity for business purposes?

One last word: I would like to thank all the people who previously filed scam reports about those guys. It saved me time, money and kept my expectations where they are supposed to be (i.e realistic). Now, if you would excuse me, I still have a job to find :)
