Stole My Credit Card Information and set up a Telephone ANswering Service With my Card Info

I am not sure how it happened - but my someone at some store or business took my personal information including my address and credit card number and it was subsequently used three times to make unauthorized purchases before I caught onto what was going on.

In December of 2008 a $369 advertisement was placed with the Ottawa Citizen, a $227 order was placed with Columbia House Canada and a telephone answering company called OneBox Call Science was signed up to answer calls at $49.95 US a month. My card has since been canceled and I am making attempts to figure out who is responsbile for these illegal purchases. The credit card company could care less and will conduct no investigation or pursue the people responsible.

I contacted Onebox Call Science and spoke to their call center in India on January 5th, 2009. A representative there confirmed that there had been an account created using my stolen credit card and the account was in the name of Kirkland Market Research. She also provided me with a cell phone number that the account holder had left. I intend to pass that number on along to police. Whoever it was that set up the account was kind enough to make sure that my address was on the bills and that I would be billed monthly for the service.

The service is one of those call answer services where you can run a personless business and have someone answer calls on your behalf like they are a receptionist in your office.

I would be very cautious in dealing with this company - there is something very shady going on and hopefully after I gather enough evidence and go to the police the appropropriate charges will be laid.
