I just Got this letter in the mail at my parents, sent to an old address saying I had won a drawing from readers digest publishers clearing house. The thing is I never entered any drawings and I have not lived at that address for about 5 years now.
I didn't call the number or even try and cash the check. I just did some research on the web and saw that it was a scam and I wanted to let people know it happened to me too. It was enticing to see a real looking check for $2980.20 but I didn't think for one second that the $45, 000 they said I had won was real and I never in my life heard of the Intrepid Ocean Linear.
They also said it needed to be claimed in around 2 weeks which is just a ploy to get you to act without thinking. I'm going to show the check to all my family and friends to let them know that if it sound to good to be true, it probably is. I could see someone falling for this but just rip it up.
