To explain what happened, I have included the letter that I have just e-mailed to MCI customer service. Buyer beware!!

Customer Service/Management:

I have once again just spoken with an MCI representative that was unable to tell me anything regarding the status of my phone service request. The original move order was placed on October 6th to be completed by November 10th. We moved from our old residence on November 14th, however, phone service is still connected at the old address and we have had no service at all for the three weeks that we have been in our new home! I am sitting here dumb-founded, wondering how MCI actually continues to operate and retain customers if this is the type of service provided. Had this just been an isolated case where there was one mix up, I could understand it.

However, after continually dealing with mix up after mix up for over the past month, beginning with the original cancelled order on the 27th of October, with no end in site, I am to say the least extremely frustrated. I have been using my work cell phone as my only means of personal communication, which I will be billed for.

What type of compensation is going to be offered to me for this? When the people moving into the rental house we vacated two weeks ago attempted to obtain phone service, they were told they could not obtain service until our service was disconnected. In trying to explain to them that MCI has been unable to get my old service disconnected and my new service connected so that they can actually obtain their service, they are not too happy with the situation either.

I would really like to know what, if anything, was ever being done to rectify this matter, outside of continually putting me off and telling me that the order is "in process" or, even better, telling me that you have no idea what the status is. I feel I have been MORE than patient with this situation to no avail.

I am therefore at this time canceling my service with
MCI and can tell you that I will NEVER become an MCI customer again nor will I ever refer anyone to MCI - in fact I feel that I should warn them! The service I have received in trying to deal with this has been unbelievably inept!

I have continually been told that they don't know what is going on with my move order and there is no way to find out because the "back office" cannot be contacted; the "back office" only replies to e-mails. A phone company that only communicates with their "back office" by e-mail?? By the way, an e-mail was supposedly sent to the "back office" on November 25th by a supervisor and I was suppose to hear back from her or another representative letting me know their reply by the 24th or at the latest the 28th. I still to this date have not voluntarily heard from anyone, but have called myself 3 times since that date only to be told that nobody knows the status of my order or if anything is being done on the account.

Completely cancel my service. I also feel I should not be responsible for any further charges connected to this account, current amount due included. I have now been without phone service for three weeks and have been attempting to work with MCI to get this resolved for over a month! I have now had enough and will obtain my service elsewhere!
