On feb 8th is when they came to move me out. It started with an ad that said "no hidden fee's, no minimum hours etc". The people show up at my apt to move me out 3 hours late. They were dressed in grungy clothes and completely unprofessional, drinking beers while they worked. The manager said i was to get 10 free boxes and they would have all the moving supplies would be with them, even cases for my clothes and dressers so nothing would get ruined. The guys tried to steal my appt's big recycling box to store my stuff in because they had NO boxes or supplies with them at all. Then they charged me for the hours they were late. They wouldn't let me come to the site where my stuff was being held. Also the ad and the business card said "free storage" and the owner yelled at me and made me pay. They had my stuff so I was afraid not to because one of the workers said the boss dumps peoples stuff in random lakes and ditches if they do not pay.
When they came to move me in a different appt. on May. 12th, they were again, 3 hours late. They clearly did not manage their time well. They tried to charge me outrageous amounts again, saying it took them 6 hours to get there, and after they moved all of my stuff up I saw lots of things were missing.(a total of, literally, $10, 000 was either missing or damaged) That is theft. The boss refuses to talk to me or redeem me for any of my loses. Also, my dresser which was brand new, was beat to pieces, and looked terrible. Parts to my bed and other furniture were missing therefore I cannot put any furniture together. They refused to give me my belongings unless I paid them so I was forced to, but things were missing. My mattress was stained. My ipod speakers and a lot of jewery was missing, along with sentimental keepsakes of stuff my dad who had passed away had given me. Many other things were missing or broken (lamps etc). A huge dog cage was missing. This business is conducted in the most unprofessional way I have ever seen. They destroyed my belongings and I am missing expensive, crucial things. On top of them being a bad business and not compensating me for everything that happened, they have stolen my property when they said it would be 100% secure.
Also, they threatened me, and said if I didn't pay them upfront before they took my stuff out of the van, they would dump it in a river. They also offered me other stuff that was in the truck belonging to someone else to me after I complained about my dresser being ruined.
I should have looked them up on the internet and ofcourse I regret that now, but there are thousands of blogs of people's bad experience with these people, yet they are still in business! They are so corrupt, stealing from people (I had lost so much and had to go out and buy so much new stuff I can barely afford my rent now.) When i asked the workers of their names and their bosses name, they said "Alex" was the bosses name, because he refused to talk to me about my missing stuff. They gave me fake named and refused to show my their ID. They were disrespectful and didn't move anything properly, ruining my walls. They asked to use MY carpets to help move things, when they should have had runners but as usual had No supplies. These people are obviously working illegally. I dont know how this guy is still in business after scamming so many people.
Me and another girl who got scammed went to small claimes court against them. Unfortunitly I couldnt claim for everything they stole because SCC has a limit, but I still want compensation. I doubt they will respond, I wish I could find a lawyer but can't afford it. Something needs to be done about these horrible horrible people... I will never see any of the things my dad bought me again and that hurts a lot-sure, they stole my stereo, ipod speakers, etc. But to be missing such sentimental stuff... it really sucks. It's all I had left of him. Included in the theft was a necklace he had given me right before he died. I'm heartbroken and I got scammed. i admit I should have gone and looked on the net first but I was in a hurry and just moved to TO and I'm a little young and naive, but not anymore. Please no one else let these bad people scam you, they will cause you more trouble than they're worth, and end up costing you much more than a well-known moving company.
