ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS
ROGERS AT&T CONTRACT DISPUTE

About 5 years ago my girlfriend and I went into a Rogers cell phone store in a mall in Red Deer Alberta and signed up for a new cell phone on a 2 year contract. We decided not to renew our contract after the 2 years was up and went with a new cell phone company. A couple three months after our Rogers contract had elapsed we recieved a notice that our cell phone had been temporarely suspended due to failure to pay the bill. I told them we did not wish to recontract with them and should not be billed for anything beyond our original contract. The rep. informed me that we were on a 3 year contract, not 2. I corrected HIM and said, no we definately chose the shorter 2 year term. He asked if we had our contract to prove that, which who knows where it was after 2 years. I asked him if he had a copy proving that we were on a 3 year term and he stated no. I told him that if he could provide a contract with our signature then I would happily pay the balance supposedly owed, and bid him farewell. That was roughly in 2004. Now in Dec. of 2008 my now ex girlfriend recieves a letter from a lawyer saying she owes $1611.00 dollars. WOW, Now I know why websites like ihaterogers.ca exists.
