Royal Bank Visa Gift Card
Ability to use fees customer service

ATTENTION ANYONE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A ROYAL BANK VISA GIFT CARD (OR MAYBE OTHERS)

MY BROTHER BOUGHT ME 2 KIDS 50.00 ROYAL BANK VISA GIFT CARDS IN DUNCAN, BC.

IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR THEY HAVE SERVICED FEED 20 % (10.00) OF THE MONEY OFF OF IT.

The cards are frustrating to use, and almost impossible to spend the entire amount.

If you purchase something more than the amount on the card it just voids out transaction (no funds on card), I think hoping you will think there are no funds left, but there probably are. Mine still had 41.00 left of the 50.00.

It does not tell the teller or you how much is on the card. Any gift card I ever used would use whatever is left on the card, and you pay the remainder of the transaction.

Not this one. I think it is done purposely. Now I have $ 1.71 on my card. Unless I bring a calculator and find an item that comes to $1.71 I can never spend all the money

on the card. Who do you think gets it. They do, they will just service fee it out, or wait for you to just say screw tryin to spend the 1.71 (how many millions do you think they make of these kind of practices). By the way it not only costed 50.00 for the 50.00 gift card, they also chaarge you 3% ontop of it because it is because it is VISA.

You call the number on the back of the card, someone in India answers the phone (honestly). They can only tell you the balance on the card, and do not know anything else

nor will give you number for the company who makes the rules (they say call Royal Bank or Visa)

I n Canada there were laws made so that gift cards can not epire, or be service feed out.

I phone the number for Royal Bank (Head Office). After a lengthy explanation, and never taking any kind of ownership, or helping, they say it is not our product, they transfer me back to India (even though I said I talked with them for 30 minutes and they told me to call you.)

I called Visa in Vancouver, the same thing. No thtere product, and unknowingly to me was transfered to India.

When I asked my local Royal Bank in Duncan, BC, the first response was that they are not there gift cards. I ask but it says Royal Bank Gift card. THey say so they are still a Visa product. They want nothing to do with it, or care that this may be a crappy product for there customers. I finally ask to speak to a supervisor. We chat first person ever to take ownership. Takes my number phones me back in 30 minutes. Offers me full refund and 25.00. In no way pays for my time, or frustration, or fixes the problems with the card. Never again visa, or Royal bank. If you wanted my businees you are going to have to treat me beter. I got a gift card, but got a run around.

Two things to learn here Royal Bank Visa Gift Cards are the worst things ever, and I wasted more time than they were worth,

and customer service sucks. Why does the consumer always get screwed.

By the way Canada has a law not allowing gift cards to be feed out, and expire. There are some exceptions. Guess who one of them is. Yes the power house visa.

Your ma and pa stores can not do it, but but giants like Visa make exceptions to the rule that applies to everyone else. Make sure your bank tells you you can be feed over 20 % on these cards, while other can not fee anything. Remeber that if you have a problem, and you all, you will find yourself in India.

I do not have time for the next story right now but if you ever wondered how money off a gift card can vanish, I have the answer, and the proof.
