Text Challenge
Scam

I am writing this complaint about "text challenge" company. I remember in April I was going to do an online line IQ test for fun, believe I was on the face book site, and they asked for my cell phone number to send a text message to continue. After I had put my cell phone number in I realised that this was probably not a good idea, and then from that point on I started to receive text messages in the form of quizzes almost daily. I deleted them as they came in. Never did they indicate that this was a text message that I was going to be charged for nor did they send a message explaining how to stop the messages. August 5 2010-08-05 after reviewing my Rogers bill, I found that I was being billed $1.00 a text, almost daily. I called Rogers and they gave me a number to call. Once you call the number the first option is to cancel the subscription, which I found interesting as this must be the bulk of the calls coming from unsuspecting people like myself. I received 2 text messages indicating the service was cancelled. I then proceeded to call and speak to a customer service rep. Jessica was the name of the customer service rep I spoke to. I explained the situation and she indicated that i had given them my cell number and had subscribed to their service, which was to send 4 text messages a week and that I was being billed $2.00 a message. She also said that every second message (if you opened it) had a detailed message of how to stop these charges. I explained to her that I was receiving messages almost daily and that the charge was $1.00 a text as per my Rogers bill. She argued that it was $2.00 a text. I asked her if she was reading from a script as she did not seem to know which scam they where running. I also asked her if the call was being recorded as I would want to pursue this issue. She told me it was. I asked for her boss, and was told Mike had left and gave me the following email [email protected] to complain to him.

Thanks,

Ruth
