Multilevel Marketing SCAM... Looking for a job, don't go here... SCAM, FRAUD, Hiding what they really do

THE BIG SCAM BREAKDOWN
I cannot believe I was scammed. I was fortunate enough to not loose any money, but I wanted to write this so that others do not find themselves in the same situation.

I WAS ONLY LOOKING FOR WORK Looking for work, as many of us are right now with the state of the economy. So many people being laid off, there is not much available. These multilevel marketing scam companies however are always hiring. I would not have had a problem with this company if it were not for the fact that they were not straight forward with what they do. With a 30 minute initial (group) interview, and a four hour "training" the following day I still had no concept of exactly what they did to make all this magical money they were talking about. Oh, and did I mention everyone was a manager, what they heck, and who the heck were they managing?

FALSE HOPE INSTILLED
After the first day, the 30 minute interview which painted this fantasy picture of me being a manager in as little as six months, and making $2500 dollars a week. All this and I needed no management experience, or College/University education. The only thing they requested is that I be willing to work hard and have a positive attitude... I thought this is great. I was blinded by the idea of big bucks, at practically no cost, so much so that my boyfriend and I went out for dinner to celebrate and started making jokes that he would be a "kept man."

THE GLAMOR STARTED TO FADE
The next day the sparkle started to fade. as I could not find a legitimate company parking space, but was told it did exist, and exactly where it was. Finally parking by the Bay at Yorkdale, and running through the mall I made it. I was late, but being the professional I am I called ahead to inform them of this. Only fifteen minutes late, I spent the rest of the morning thinking I must have missed the portion of the morning that explained exactly what they do, and where all these imaginary employees worked.

THE "CONTROVERSIAL" QUESTION
The next red flag was a sheet we were asked to sign, we were told that all it outlined was we would not steal anything while we were having on the job training that afternoon. One young man, starting underlining statements on the paper (contract) which flat outsaid we would not actually be employees of Universal Energy. When he put up his hand to ask a question the trainer would not acknowledge his question. She immediately asked him to grab his stuff and leave the room. The conversation between them went on as follows;

Trainer: "Sir, Grab your stuff and leave the room, another manager will answer your questions."
Young Man: "But I think everyone will benefit from what I have to ask."
Trainer: "Sir, Grab your stuff and leave the room."
Young Man: "But I do not want to miss the things you are going to go over now."
Trainer: "Sir, Grab your things and leave the room."

This went on quite a few times and she became louder and more heated each time, until she called in "backup" to remove him from the room. They physically grabbed him, and moved him all because they would not acknowledge the questions he had about the contract. When the
other "manager" who removed the young man by force from the room got him just outside he said to the young man, "Get the F**K out of my office." They even called mall security. He was not being violent, rude, disrespectful or anything of that nature. He in fact was the calmest person in the situation, and called to us as he was being forced out of the room, "Guys, check what you are signing." If that situation did not make you question then nothing would.

SHADOW AN EMPLOYEE
After that we were going to go shadow someone for the rest of the day until 7pm. Oh, and did I mention that you were not being paid for this training. At this point I still did not know what they do. One by one, "employees" (actually I guess according to the contact not employees) of Universal Energy started coming to the door and taking trainees with them. Again I was questioning because the whole time whenever I met a new "manager" they seemed fake, and brainwashed. With a painted on smile and glazed over eyes... there was absolutely nothing sincere about these people.

Finally it was my turn to meet who I would shadow. A nice middle aged lady, all bundled up and wearing a direct energy hat appeared at the door. She was very friendly, and began telling me all about how she had made tons of money working with Universal Energy. I was following her, and listening intently until we started walking out of the office. I stopped in my tracks, as did she. I politely said, "Where are we going? " She then replied with, "do you have money for the bus? " This still not answer my question. So I decided to ask the big question what exactly they do, and followed it immediately with are we going door to door? She answered yes, and I responded with, "It is great that this works for you, but I think it will not be a good fit for me, and I do not want to waste your time." She seemed slightly annoyed, but we went our separate ways.

CONCLUSION
I then was so annoyed that I had been taken in by anything they said. I never lost money but, was in such a vulnerable state with desperately looking for work. Please do not find yourself being scammed into working for this company or signing up for their services.

Oh, and let me end with this; when you sign up with Universal Energy they do not become your utility company. Your utility company will still service you, and deal with any questions, or emergencies. Universal Energy will just get your money... How does this work fairly?
