I was hired by Popeyees Chicken Company's Manager Mr. Khalil on the understanding that after completing my training I will be offered the role of firstly as Cashier, and then as Store Manager. I kept working for 3 days, with full dedication, in the hope that they are completing the hiring process/employment documents. However, today when I asked for employment letter, then the Manager told me that they never issue any employment letter/documents to employees, rather they just pay cash as salary. When I asked what is the rate, he told me that it is $1/hour. I was shocked to listen this as the minimum wage in Ontario is $10.25/hour.

This is an organized crime, firstly because the employer is paying less than bare minimum wage, and secondly by not issuing employment documents the company is doing Tax evasion. This practice/rip-off needs to be stopped so that other people dont get victimized. I believe it is policy of Manager to hire people, get work, and then dont pay them.
