DO NOT WORK FOR THESE GUYS.
I got a job with them through g4s, and they treat g4s like a temp agency. It takes 2 1/2 years for their benefits to kick in under their system. They pay a market rate for any job in this town, which is fine, but they are cheap and stingy when it comes to raises and you'll have to wait 6 months just to get a measly 45 cent raise. Meanwhile, it cost me over $300 to start with them. The only reason why I took the job was because I was desperate for work, but I quickly realized that they heirarchy is setup such that they have old men who'll sit around surfing the internet and reading news papers while sending the poorer paid and less respected new guy to do all of the work for them. If you want a dead end job with a greedy employer, this is it, if you want to get somewhere in life, tell them where to stick it. Whenever you see a business with a position that is of such poor caliber it usually means the management in that company is inept.
People are not going to work for a 2.9% raise, what the hell do you think inflation is gunna be this year? Inflation is usually 1-3%, if it's 3% it's sound to reason that I get nothing, and therefore this cheap company would pay nothing extra for some one that is reliable and knows the job, essentially I would be worth just as much (based on what they are paying) as the next guy. The minute anybody mentions this losing formula, it's out the door and they get a new guy. They use G4S because if they didn't have it work like a temp agency job, they'd get their ass sued for wrongful dismissal, that's how cheap and petty of an employer they are, and it's dumbfounding that they'd want their staff to look so good on their behalf but are unwilling to reward them for all the extra expense they incur having to follow their crappy guidelines.
BAD EMPLOYER -- DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. If you are finding this just now and you work for them, time to quit and tell others that they are a waste of time doing business with.
