We received a letter in a plain envelope with no return address. In this letter was stated that we were random winners of an International Shopping Sweepstakes Lottery. We were the winners of $245, 000.00. We also received an enclosed check for $4, 775.00 to pay for the $1, 750.00 applicable "winning taxes".
The letter stated not to attempt to use the check till we called the claim agent, Mrs. Laura Preston at 1-647-831-4860 for further clarification and instructions.
My husband contacted Mrs. Preston, and was told we were automatically entered into the sweepstakes thru our local Wal-Mart. She advised him that it was perfectly 'ok' to deposit the check.
The letter also stated that we should pay our "winning taxes" via Western Union or Moneygram directly to our assigned tax agent.
The letter was signed by Oscar J Fletcher, Promotion Manager.
