My wife recieved a letter from Mutual Financial Securities Inc. informing her that she was one of the declared winners of the SHOPPERS SWEEPSTAKES held on July 5th, 2008 in the 2nd category. It stated that they had made several unsuccessful attempts to contact her and she was entitled to the sum of $250, 000.00. Her claim number has been assigned to a North American Claims affiliate and a check in the amount of $2985.00 was enclosed for payment of applicable government taxes. The tax amount of $2985.00 is to be paid by either moneygram or Western Union.
It was also stated to not attempt to use the check until you called for further clarification within 5 business days. We contacted the Premier Bank of St. Charles, MO, whom the check was to be drawn from, and was told that this was indeed a scam and should report it to local law enforcement or the FBI.
