I applied for a loan over the internet. I got a message on my phone on Thanksgiving saying that I was approved for a $5000 loan. The number they called from was (647) 889-4925. I called them back on Mondaay the 27th at the number they left on my voicemail which was (647) 836-9706. I had to leave a message but they called me back. I have caller id so I took the number down. it was (647) 889-4925.
The guy said his name was Travis Hoffman with 24 Hour Loans. i asked if there was a website and he stated that it was www.24hourloans.com. The website doesnt exist. He told me me that I was approved for a $5000 dollar loan and it was at a 7.5% interest rate. I could pay it back over 2 years at $239.58 a month.
I was really excited about this because I could really use the money. Then he got me. He stated that because of my credit, i could only get the loan by one of three options. Option 1: i had to have a cosigner who made over $70, 000 a year and had a credit score of 700 or higher (not possible) option 2: put up a house (also not possible) or option 3: put 4 months of payments down totaling 958.33.
I stated that i was taking out the loan because i didnt have any money. then he tried to bargain with me and said that i could but 750 down and pay the rest when i got the $5000. I told him i would have to call him back. Before i got off the phone, i asked him if he could send me the loan documents and he had my email address so he was going to email them to me. after i got off the phone, i started searching online. i typed in the phone numbers into google and i got a hit with one of them. it pulled up canada-complaints.com.
I received the loan documents at 3:20 Monday afternoon. I printed them out. there is a different signature on every page. the contract even looks fishy. it has pay off in 2 years instead of months like most banks put it. it doesnt have my social anywhere on the documents (thank God) and the company calls itself 3 different names throughout the contract. First Stream Financial, United Capital Associates and 24 Hour Loans.
I am going to talk to my police department and see if any of this information can help stop this. Needless to say, I am not falling for this. Thank you canada-complaints.com for making my decision for me.
