I was a 19 year employee and junior partner of Metropolitan Credit Adjusters located in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. In 2005 I left after the President of Metropolitan Credit (Frank Reilly) lied about wanting to retire and sell his shares to me.
Up until this point I naively trusted Frank and put my heart and sole into the company. Never at any time did I conceive that I would have to watch him like a shoplifter or something. I was not paid holiday pay for the entire time while employed at Metropolitan Credit Adjusters except for the very end where I was paid for 2005.
In calculating the amount Metropolitan Credit Adjusters owes to me, it is in excess of $51, 000.00. Of course they deny owing any money at all but that is simply their laywers advice. Alberta labor law says that if you are paid compensation other than simply wages, then you are entitled to 6% of your income as vacation pay.
I have given Frank Reilly and Metropolitan Credit Adjusters an opportunity to do the right thing and pay me but they refuse probably because their lawyer advised them my claim is close to the two year Statute of Limitations. Is there really a limitation period on doing the right thing?
If Frank will try this on an amployee and junior partner, what lengths will he go to as a businessman? Obviously he is not to be trusted. I would encourage you as an employee to really watch yourself. Do you want to work for someone like this??? Alberta Labor has a good-sized file on Metropolitan Credit Adjusters believe me.
If you are reading this and you do business with a person like Frank Reilly - it is probably a good idea that you review every last detail of your agreement and audit your Quebec student loan accounts thoroughly for unapproved settlements or potentially fraudulent paperwork being covered up to get settlements approved.
