This is a warning for ANYONE who has received a letter from Pinnacle Locators. I also received a letter and was kind of excited to learn from them that I had won $250, 780.00! They told me that this money was being held for me since June 17th, 2003. They also sent me a cashiers check for $3500 to help cover the processing fee that has accrued.
This company is out of Canada, and the check is from a bank in North Dakota, or Jackson (mine came from ND). THIS IS SCAM!!! It has been posted on Yahoo questions, and from what I can gather from the Federal Consumer boards the Feds and Canadian goverment is involved. Please Please, do not respond to the letter! They ask you to deposit the check into your account and then send them $3000 to another "Sweepstakes Agent" and upon confirmation of the payment the remainder with be mailed to within 48 hours.
Take it from someone who has won money before, there are papers to sign for releases, and you have to be present with id to claim your prize. NO ONE sends a cashier check in the mail.
