Hub City Auctions
Landlord

I have been having both employment and health issues that have affected my ability to pay my rent on time, however, it has always ended up getting paid one way or another for over a year now and my landlord has been very patient with me. Until now. The employment issues are in regards to the number of working hours available to me going up and down like a toilet seat from week to week... one month I make enough money to support myself... the next month I can't because my hours were cut back. Fortunately, my Mom and Dad, (bless their souls) have been there for me every time I've not been able to pay. And if they couldn't help, then dear friends of mine have come to my aid. Last year, one of the elements died in my hot water heater, which the landlord promised to fix at the beginning of summer. It is mid-August now. I am still taking 5 minute showers and one inch baths, without complaint. Anyway, I was formerly a victim of physical/mental/emotional abuse by the same man for 10 years, and this apartment was my "escape route". I love my little micro-environment. However, recently, my boss rather "indiscreetly" passed on the news to the mother of my former abuser (who works in the same place... different department of HBC/Zellers) that I was dating again, resulting in a formidable visit from my ex and some new "threats" I thought I was over with. After ten years of anti-depressants and sleeping pills for "post traumatic" medication, the last thing I needed was my job to bring my violent past into my present. My doctor put me on stress leave YET again, for the next 3-6 months. Meanwhile, I didn't earn enough money to pay August or the coming September's rent, and am terribly late with August's. I've been given a "5 day to pay" or "out in 10 day" notice.

My dear mother phoned my landlord to offer to pay my rent for August AND September until my medical E.I., social services and/or disability (chronic bronchitis as well) kicks in and...

MY LANDLORD REFUSED TO TAKE THE MONEY! I still have until this Sunday to pay, and my mother assured her she'd have it in time, however, my landlord informed me AND mother that she thinks the money should be coming from me and not her... that she thinks if I'd get a "better" job instead of relying on my mother, she'd accept the money. Please. What can I do about this? My only choice within four days time frame is moving in with a man whose in love with me and I don't yet share the feelings. I'm not ready to share "my space" yet. Can a landlord refuse money within the required time they're demanding the rent?
