Cheap rates off the start, but they withheld $1000 in trust pending clear estoppel certificate.

When I asked why it is taking so long (currently 3 months), they said my former condo property management company was not getting back to them.

I called my former condo board, and they said that they had received no requests to forward such documents. They ended up calling the firm for me, and turns out that the firm had picked up the documents weeks ago and had misplaced.

I called the firm back and the legal assistant said she has the documents but couldn't clear the check until the lawyer returned from out of town. When I asked when I could pick up, she again brushed me off saying lawyer still hasn't signed check.

Now they are telling me that I will not receive the full $1000 back, as they have charges for 'clearing' the documents, which they already charged for.

Furthermore, the legal assistant has been rude, and will not call me with any updates.

Still waiting for money, but in interim have filed a complaint with the law society of Alberta.
