Ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing poor service lost equipment

At no time throughout, did I sign or even receive any written contract, policy, or paper/electronic receipt from this company. This company does not have in its possession, anything bearing my signature. I utilized an internet service (voice over internet protocol or VOIP) from this company for over a year. In order to use this monthly service, it required a computer modem, which was provided and mailed to me by this company. They initially disclosed verbally to me that they will charge a $50usd fee that will be returned to me once the modem is returned to the company. I verbally agreed to this, and my debit card was charged. This amount, it turns out, is only the beginning.

Due to technical difficulties that arose after a year of service that tech support was completely unable to resolve after 2 months of non-service, I was forced to cancel the service. I returned the modem using the United States Postal Service Global Express Mail with insurance and tracking number. I called to verify that modem was received, which they repeatedly said that they could not find in their system.

Subsequently, I was charged the amount of $249usd for failure to return the equipment. At no point whatsoever was a potential charge of this amount disclosed to me either verbally or in writing. I did not pre-authorized them to charge this amount automatically. I was never notified prior to the charge nor did I sign or receive any contract, policy, or receipt regarding the charge. Thereafter, for an unknown reason, the above mentioned package was refused by addressee and returned to sender almost two months after I had initially returned the equipment!

I tried calling the customer service of Comwave more than a dozen times trying my best to resolve this issue. I spoke with numerous supervisors and this is well documented in their computer records. I also sent e-mails and copies of the mail receipt containing the tracking number to said company. While friendly, they were unable to resolve the issue, further, were unable to explain why the return package was refused. At a later date, this company again charged to my debit a second $249usd. Again, this was unauthorized. This time, I called my bank to inactivate the debit card so that no further unauthorized charges will occur. I again mailed the modem using the United States Postal Service Global Express Priority, with insurance and tracking number.

Avoid this company. Their technical support is incompetent. Their inventory control is horrific. They do not put anything in writing, they give you zero policies, contracts or receipts. They do not provide prepaid mailing packages, so you are forced to pay to return things yourself. Finally, they charge you outrageous unauthorized amounts seemingly at their leisure, for outdated computer equipment that would cost at most $50 current market value.
