Snack Pack Pudding 12 pack
Efusal to honor prices

On April 15, 2011, I stopped in my local Shoppers Drug Mart at Southgate Shopping Centre in Chilliwack, B.C. to pick up a few items. As I was about to check out, there is always a metal shelf that sits in front of the cashiers that have "clearance items". On this rack was several item, and on the bottom shelf there were approx.20-30 boxes of Snack Pack Pudding 12 pack. Several people were glancing over the rack of clearance items and one of the 3 cashiers present announced that they were on sale for $.99!! Well, needless to say that 5 people immediately started to fill their buggies with 4-5 boxes of pudding!! At $.99 how could you go wrong. So, as the other customers, I added 5 boxes to my buggy and waited in line. I watched as 5 other customers ahead of me were having their pudding boxes rang through at $.99, I come up next in line and reminded the cashier that the pudding was on sale for $.99. She questioned it puzzlingly and asked another cashier and that cashier said "yes, they were on for $.99", so she reluctantly rang them through. No sooner had she rung the pudding through, she decided to phone the store manager. The store manager said that "no, the pudding weren't on sale for $.99, they were going on sale the following day for $2.99 and refused to let me purchase them at $.99. She told the store manager that several customers had already been rung through and had 4-5 boxes each and they were honored the $.99 price. The manager flatly refused to honor the price even though several customers had already done so. I asked to speak to the manager. The store manager came down to the cashier and continued to refuse to honor the price of $.99. I said "how can you refuse to honor my purchase when several other customers had already done so? " He continued to argue with me for several minutes embarassing me, the cashiers and the customers waiting in line, that the customers that were waiting, literally put their pudding back and walked out of the store. After such unprofessional performance, I told him "keep them all". While paying for my other purchases, I watched the manager go over to the other cashiers and completely humiliate them in front of other customers for allowing the purchases of pudding. The other cashiers defended themselves, as they had called "a higher authority" to confirm the price, so it wasn't even the cashier's fault. However, the manager made sure to belittle those poor cashiers to make himself look like the "big man". I was literally shocked at this managers behavior and he conducted himself in a degrading and very unprofessional manner. I have patrionized this Shoppers Drug Mart for over 40 years and never have I seen such a performance. My complaint is not that the product price wasn't honored, it is the way the store manager conducted himself with me and other cashiers and I would expect that some kind of reprimand be instilled on this "man" as he is suppose to be representing Shoppers Drug Mart and he is doing a lousy job!
