Underhanded behavior re "no refund"

My wife and I bought an expensive chair from Home Craft Decor on Queen Street West. We went home and the chair didn't work in our space. The store was closed by the time we got home, so we returned the chair first thing the next morning. The guy quickly and rudely told us that he does not give refunds because he has a "no refund policy", so we have to take a store credit or take something else!!! BUT here's the issue:

We were not told of the "no refund policy", there were no signs anywhere in the store to inform customers of this "no refund policy", and there was nothing printed on the receipt to indicate such. He had a sign that is about 3' x 3' and it was in a box behind the cash register. He told us he didn't care what we said and "the bottom line is that [we] will not get a refund, so [we] should not waste our time arguing and leave [his] store and go take [them] to court!!! " After going back and forth, trying our best to be reasonable with this guy, including getting his father on the phone, who told us that if we had brought the chair back five minutes after taking it he would have been able to give us a refund but he won't give us a refund now because we brought the chair back the day after. Yea! I know, there are a number of problems with that, the least of which might be the fact that we bought the chair right before their store closed. Anyway, I am a lawyer and I have decided to take them to Small Claims Court over this.

Their behavior was unbelievably high-handed and rude! And I will take this as far as possible in the courts and online!!
