Door to Door sales tatics include "promising" to lower energy costs at least 30% over your current bills. The salesperson will ask to see your current utility bills and then claim that by signing with them you can save up to 30% of your current billings. THIS IS A BLATANT LIE. after you sign the contact and after the 10 day cooling off period (this is as per Alberta Law) then you get he actual rates per Gj and Kw for gas and electricity for your contract term. These rates are usually much higher than than what your current supplier is charging. Next the kicker.. in order to cancel the contract after the 10 day cooling period you will have to pay 5% of the total charges that you would incurr over the entire contract term.
