I just moved yesterday from a company (magnum moving) I found through moveit.ca. I was billed $10.00 per hour more than I was quoted, and was billed for twice the amount of time I was estimated. We moved from a 1 bedroom apartment and it was estimated that the entire move would require 5 hours. The movers took a total of 5 hours to simply empty my old residence.
The drivers left for my new apartment (within Toronto) and I checked over my old apartment, chatted with the landlord and got on the TTC to arrive at my new place - this was about 20 minutes after the truck left. When I arrived at my new residence the truck had just arrived -
over 1 hour of travel time to get from Yonge and Sheppard to Dufferin and St. Clair - a drive that should average 20 - 30 minutes.
During the process of moving, I found the company movers to be quite slow and inefficient. They took numerous breaks, talked on their cell phones while moving, insisted on a paid lunch - while they were accruing by hour fees.
To add insult to injury, when the truck arrived at my new home - the driver backed the truck into the front porch, ripping one of the porch rails out of the foundation. I was told by the driver that no damage had been done - and that they weren't responsible for the repair.
We called the company twice today, and have not received a callback. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and disputing my credit card charge. I will take this damn company as far as I need to. Unfortunatly, I have a feeling they will disappear before this occurs, or any resolution is met.
If there is a way for canada-complaints.com to get others who have similar complaints in contact, I would like to talk to others.
