We have had an insane amount of construction in front of our downtown building for the past month now. and this IS a very old intersection in the city (the 5 points intersection) and I'm glad to see its all getting gutted and new everything. But is it so hard for a construction company to notify the residents of actions that will cause any inconveniences to them. Like night construction for example, people who are light sleepers might prefer to KNOW THAT IN ADVANCE as to sleep at a friend or family's house for the night.
The main reason for this complaint is the inconvenience I've been faced with today, a couple weeks ago they shut our water off for about 10 hours in the middle of the day, from about 9-7... and we were forewarned so because I normally work late shifts or at night, I did my dishes when I got home from work at around midnight the night before, filled up my sink for any cleaning the next day, filled up my kettle and a couple pots because I had my daughter with me for the weekend and was gonna need to give her a bath the next day and was going to fill up the bathtub as well and use boiling water to heat it. Having grown up living in the country I had learned to deal with water shortages although even then we had warning because we would know the level of our well was low.
When I woke up this morning to find no water, the first thing I did was check to see if i just missed the notification. But nay, there was nought a single notification of our water being shut off. It is now almost 8 hours later and we still do not have water. Just about all the food left in my cupboards I'm needing water to cook, I worked a midnights shift last night until 7am this morning and havent been able to shower today. I'm just glad I did'nt have my daughter overnight last night because I'd have been screwed this morning without being able to clean her bottle or to make us lunch and dinner.
O'Hara construction company, I know you're based out in the country I used to live up the street from where your owner lives and has the main office, so I don't know if you guys just dont do much inner-city construction but PLEASE notify residents of any actions you are going to be taking that will cause any inconvenience to them, such as NIGHT CONSTRUCTION or WATER SHUT OFF.
