West Jet/Sears Travel
Passport problems

We purchased tickets Jan 19th 2010 to let our son, daughter-in-law and two children fly down to Miami for 10 days-they were to fly March 16th 2010. We bought through Sears Travel who took photocopies of their passports and sent them on to WestJet. On March 16th after a two hour drive to Toronto, they found out the five year olds passport was 16 days out of date. This should have been csught by Sears and WestJet. Customs were fantastic and helped our son alot. My son had to go and get an emergency passport which took 3 hours to process and $100.00 then go back to the airport, repark and then West Jet told them that after they paid $235.00 per ticket they could rebook tickets to fly out later that day or they could just fly anywhere in Canada right away. We were leaving to go and pick them up in Miami which would have been 2 1/2 hour drive for nothing and then we had to drive to Fort Lauderdale because the Tri-Rail shuts down at 10p.m. If they had have come on the orginal flight they could have caught the Tri-Rail and it wuld have been a 20 minute ride for us. I think they were treated very badly by both Sears and WestJet and that something should be done by both to make me want to book any more tickets with them. We are now snowbirds and will be flying twice in the winter along with our family which would be 10 return guaranteed flights. I would like to hear from them both at my email [email protected]
