Sent me a letter saying I was entitled to $250, 000 as one of the winners with the Sweepstakes Association of North America. They sent me a check for $4, 540.00 to pay the Non Resident Government Tax

I received a letter stating I was one of the winners in the "Compensation Draw" in conjunction with the Sweepstakes Association of North America.
I won $250, 000 and was sent a check for $4, 540.00 to pay the taxes with. I was given the name Celin Goodman as Tax Agent but was told to call the claims agents first.

I called and spoke with Mary Richards. She said I won the grand prize and it would be sent to me as soon as I paid the taxes. She said I had to deposit the check and call her back.

When I asked her why I couldn't cash the check and purchase the money gram as stated in the letter she said I HAD TO DEPOSIT the check. When I said that didn't make sence she hung up on me.

I believe this is a scam to get access to my checking account. The check was issued from Ensign United States Drilling, Inc. out of Denver, CO and drawn on Wells Fargo Bank.
